I read prodigiously, mostly either mysteries (Stuart Kaminsky, Chester Himes, Jim Thompson) or non-fiction (Erik Larson, Stephen Hawking). TV has become especially boring lately, other than OPB and, sadly, Sunday night on Fox (guilty pleasure!). I watch football on Sundays while working, but that's about it for sports on TV - I would much rather see live sports, and would love to check out a Timbers game this year.

Friends who are vegan have talked me into trying it, as an on-again/off-again vegetarian, and I am truly enjoying the diet but would love to have some company to visit the great restaurants they have been introducing me to. I enjoy volunteering at the library and the Humane Society, and am looking into the local middle school to see if they have opportunities available that would work with my schedule. I am for the most part Democrat but have various issues about which I sit on the fence or confuse my more liberal friends - I was actually tending towards voting for John McCain, but not with Palin as a running mate (not because she's a woman, but because she's too right-wing), for example.
