When dating, I am the type of guy that will bring flowers and treat a lady to a wonderful time. I tend to be more of the thoughtful type...send a card to work as a surprise or just a text message to let you know I'm thinking of you.

Ah yes, the romantic part of me. Cooking candlelight dinners...holding hands in public...snuggling on the couch watching TV or in front of a fire...kissing while the fireworks finale is going off! Breakfast in bed (or at least a cup of coffee waiting for you when you wake up.) Remembering birthdays and anniversaries...remembering your mother's birthday! I was married for fifteen years and did well enough professionally to have the so-ed "trophy house" in an affluent community. No kids. Just owned the oversized house as a social measure of "success." I am a bit of a neat freak so, of my own accord, I did all the housework...cleaning, polishing, vacuuming, dusting and some cooking. I insisted on doing the laundry...wash, dry, fold and put away everything. The linen closet was a thing of beauty. (No...I am not gay! LOL!) I also did all the yard work...mowing, landscaping, gardening, etc. In the winter, the car was always warmed up and ready to go every morning...and the driveway shoveled if it snowed. Do you think I went overboard by having the table set and coffee made before she even got up for breakfast?

Ever the hopeless romantic, I LOVE being IN LOVE! So why can't I find someone to love? To love me? No...it isn't that I'm some fat, lazy, couch potato. Yes...I do have all my own teeth and even a brain! (I used to be a paid public speaker.)

OK. I know...you want to know the other side. Yes...there are some things that may be less than flattering. I have bad habits...I smoke. I enjoy having a couple of drinks on weekends. I like to party and have a good time once in a while. I have a naughty side (but that's behind closed doors where it's appropriate...and fun!) I cuss once in a while and I've even been known to fart on occasion!

Oh yeah...the deal breaker. *Sigh* I happen to be sort of homeless these days. I pretty much fell apart after my divorce five years ago and lost everything. I fell into the bottle, made a series of bad decisions and hooked up with a succession of wrong women. I lost my job, my house, everything...I lost it or just gave it all away. Mostly my own fault.

So there you have it. I am getting back on my feet again but finding it all so hard to be starting from scratch like this. Should I even be in a relationship at this point? Maybe not. But, I so miss having someone in my life to share things with. I miss caring for someone. I miss having a reason to make things better...a reason to get myself back on top once again. I do so much better when I have someone.
